Menopause age estimator — a planning range, not a prediction
Use your age, mother's menopause age and smoking status to see a population-based range for when menopause is likely. It is an educational estimate, not a medical forecast.
- · Population central age: ~51 (typical range 45–55).
How to read this
- · The model uses three inputs with well-established effects (population baseline, hereditary component, smoking). It deliberately ignores weaker predictors with wide uncertainty.
- · The output is a six-year window. Most women will sit within their range; a meaningful minority won't — biology is messy.
- · Other factors influence menopause age (ethnicity, parity, BMI, autoimmune conditions, chemotherapy) but were left out to keep the tool honest about its precision.
- · If you'd like a personal read, a baseline hormone panel now (FSH, LH, estradiol, AMH) gives you something concrete to compare against in 1–3 years.
Test once, plan from data
A baseline panel now gives the menopause picture clear context later. Written specialist review by our health specialists. Robyn is available for an optional 1:1 results consult.
Can anyone actually predict menopause age?+
Not precisely. Population studies show a hereditary component (mother's menopause age explains roughly 30–50% of variance), and known modifiers like smoking. This tool returns a range, not a date.
Why does smoking move the estimate?+
Current smoking is consistently associated with menopause arriving ~1–2 years earlier in large cohort studies. Quitting before perimenopause partially mitigates this.
Does AMH predict menopause age?+
Loosely — and only late in the transition. AMH-based prediction models exist (e.g. Tehran Lipid and Glucose Study) but uncertainty windows are wide. We don't use AMH alone for an age estimate.
What's 'early menopause' vs 'POI'?+
Menopause before 45 is 'early menopause'; before 40 is 'premature ovarian insufficiency' (POI). Both warrant a proper work-up, not just an estimator.
What should I do with this number?+
Treat it as a planning input — not a prediction. If perimenopause symptoms appear, test then. If you're approaching the lower end of your range, a baseline panel now gives you a useful comparison point later.
Which Her Form panel fits?+
If you're already symptomatic, the Perimenopause Package. If you're symptom-free and planning ahead, the Essential Hormone Panel gives you a clean baseline.
